I saw "Across the Universe" late last night with my friend. The long and the short of it is that this is the reason people make movies.
And Eddie Izzard was in it, which just elevates its awesomeness by about 50%. So it's currently at an appreciation viewing of 150%.

admittedly, the plotline was rusty and a bid dragged out, but the actual film was so beautiful. it was unlike anything i've ever seen, it had some come kind of emotional power that simply took hold of me. their use of such well-known songs was incorporated seamlessly into the the very framework of the piece, adding to the characters instead of making them seem like unrealistic phonies. u disagree?
